WSUM Blog: Entry
Show of the Week- The Stone Age
Name of show: The Stone Age
Time: Monday 3-4 PM
Host Info (Name, Major, year): Hey all you out there in radio land! My name is Jessica Demotto and I am a third year undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin Madison studying secondary English Education.
What is your show like? The Stone Age aims to provide listeners with alternative and psychedelic rock from a classic era. As Frank Zappa once said, "Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible." Those few words say it all.
Why should people listen to the show? The Stone Age will give you a wide variety of music from the 60's, 70's, and 80's that you don't normally hear on radio as well as provide historical context to the bands and their albums.
How long have you had a show? This is my first semester being a DJ for WSUM and I love it! Couldn't be more lucky to be a part of the community and play the tunes I dig.
What do you do outside of the station? When I'm not at WSUM being a DJ for The Stone Age or a reporter for the WSUM News Team, I enjoy spending time outside, reading and watching films. Normal stuff.
Favorite Music/Best album of 2012: I don't listen to a lot of new music although I am a big fan of indie, alternative, and classic rock and roll. My show focuses on the 60's, 70's and 80's but I am secretly the biggest Radiohead fan!
Fun Fact about you or your show: A fun fact about my show is that I hope to soon be playing most of my music off of records! I have a huge collection and want to share it with my listeners.
