While not as immediate as its predecessor, Farm picks up right where 2007's long-overdue reunion album Beyond left off - J, Lou and Murph continue to crank out more of what Dino Jr. fans have loved since their 80s debut: barge loads of tortured/fuzzy guitar, lazy-yet-plaintive vocals, and tsunami-sized volume. Whether slow burning or uptempo, it is truly a unique sound that they've come to own over the past two decades. Don't think of this as a cash-in or victory lap - Farm finds them writing songs that are strong additions to their revered catalog. By the sounds of it, they might just now be hitting their stride.
