Ever since the EDM explosion took over the birthplace of house music by storm, the United States has been embracing raves, music festivals, concerts, and more to revel and celebrate with smooth moves and synthetic, yet beautiful sounds.
However, much like how The Beatles took the foundation of American rock and then Briticized-it in the UK, Skrillex and other artisits took the foundation of English dubstep and then Americanized in the US. However, before Skrillex came in the game, dubstep was already starting to get popular in the US…
…..and it wouldn't have happened without the efforts of Christopher Mercer, who many people across the world know as Rusko. If it weren't for this man, the US would not have embraced dubstep with such open arms. Thanks to his radio/chart-topping bangers like “Woo Boost”, Skrillex, Bassenectar and more sought to follow suit, spreading the art of dubstep.
However, some say that dubstep wouldn't have existed if it weren't for drum and bass. And much like how Rusko popularized dubstep in the US, Roni Size definitely made a big impact in the US and UK with his drum and bass sound. Roni Size, with a very wide producers catalogue of soulful liquid funk and jazzstep records, has influenced the drum and bass world today, and even Rusko cites him as an influence.
Q-BiK is opening, from Austrailia he's beginning to blow up. And MrHorror, the other opener, is a Madison staple. DO NOT miss out on this night, for doing so means missing out on a small, but very important part of the history of bass music!
Rusko & Roni Size alongside Q-BiK and MrHorror are performing at The Majestic on Friday 11/1. For more information, click hereor here.
