The Majestic brought some feel-good reggae vibes to warm up Madison, with an excellent show by Iration, The Movement, Natural Vibrations, and Micah Brown!
DJ Trichrome, a local reggae master, was on the 1's and 2's spinning rootsy reggae that made everyone dance, dance, dance.
Kicking off the show, Micah Brown made a splash. “He gave a soulful performance,” said Trichrome. “I love to see an artist only with a guitar fill up the room with music.”
Natural Vibrations was also a crowd-pleaser. Their vocalists often came to the audience, asking them to sing along. Thanks to Natural Vibrations the crowd gathered together and got ready for more reggae, with a unified spirit!
Let me add, I've never seen any of these bands play live before, so I was absolutely shocked and blown away when The Movement started playing after Natty Vibes. One word: WOW. That's what I was thinking, in true Doge style. Wow! So awesome! If you like Sublime, you'll like The Movement. They've got a great energy and they put on an excellent show that leaves you wanting more.
I've listened to Iration, the headliner, for a few years. My favorite album of theirs is Time Bomb (2010), and they played a lot of my favorite songs from that one. Their live show was everything I'd hoped it would be, and their light show added a lot of fun intense energy to the music. The lights were impressive, but not overpowering. I watched most of the show from the back of the Majestic, but after Iration started to play, I found myself meandering forward to stand directly in front of the speakers, which were blasting out bass vibrations.
Overall, this was quite a treat in the cold month of February! The Majestic has some other great reggae shows in the works for us, including Rebelution, and John Brown's Body with Easy Star All-Stars. Can't wait to tell you about those! 🙂
