L.A.-native DJ and producer Dillon Francis headlined Saturday's Revelry Music and Arts Festival main stage in front of the Memorial Union on a fairly warm spring night. A few thousand people had gathered to watch Waka Flocka Flame beforehand, and many stayed to see Dillon Francis. Before the show started, Dillon got on the microphone and kindly asked the audience to be respectful and to have fun, kicking off his set right around 9 o'clock.
Known for his upbeat, electro and moombahton style, Francis brought fresh electronic music to Langdon Street to the thrill of the crowd. His set featured many build ups and drops off of acid house synths, trap beats, and Francis' signature blippy melodies. It was easy to see Francis was feeding off the energy of the crowd, and vice versa.
Francis slowed things down in the middle of his set by playing a rendition of Notorious B.I.G.'s “Juicy”, and led the crowd in singing along. But not long after he was back at it, playing wild tracks. The lighting accompanying the show was spectacular – as a song would build, the lights would dim, then eventually go black, and after a drop, the multicolored lights would go crazy, in a stunning sort of way.
The set came to a close right around 10 p.m. with “Get Low”, Francis' new song with DJ Snake, best known for his hit “Turn Down For What”. The crowd stayed enthused throughout the entire show, and after seeing Dillon Francis for a fourth time, I have to say this performance was without a doubt his best.
