SONGS FOR SPOONING
Monday @ 2:00pm
Songs for Spooning – every Monday at 2 pm – is an hour of chill vibes that will bring you ocean side in the back of an old rusty van. It's an assortment of garage, psych, surf, and other varieties of indie rock. I love to play local music, as well as bigger artists and artists from other places. Sometimes it'll make you wanna jump and thrash around, and other times it'll inspire exactly what the title of the show encourages.
As for me, I'm from Merrill, WI. It's a small town about 3 hours north of Madison tucked away in the northwoods. Even though I'm a senior about to graduate, I just started doing a radio show this semester. Better late than never! I wanted to do a show because music has always been one of my biggest passions, and I wanted a way to fulfill that passion. I love finding new music and sharing it with people, so this is the perfect outlet for that.
When I'm not finding new music/jamming out in my room, I love crowd surfing at shows (usually unsuccessfully), writing poetry, drawing and painting, being a social activist, making enchiladas, going on random adventures with my friends, traveling, day dreaming about cats, salsa dancing on Thursday nights at the Cardinal, and recently I've gotten really into black and white film photography (hit me up if you wanna model for me).
If I could have any job in the world and get paid for it, I'd want to just be able to travel around and go to shows and use all my concert highs to develop a bunch of sweet art and poetry that would somehow inspire worldwide justice and equality. Dream big, boys and girls.
TOP 5 (ARTISTES)
If I had to pick my five favorite artists they would be:
1 – Twin Peaks
2 – Mac Demarco
3 – King Krule
4 – The Rolling Stones
5 – Bob Dylan
Along with my favorite artists (aside from Dylan and the Stones) the artists I play most regularly on my show are Ty Segall, NE-HI, Ducktails, King Tuff, Modern Vices, The Orwells, Allah-Las, and lots of other cool bands/musicians.
Q&A
Q: What's your favorite breakfast cereal?
A: Favorite breakfast cereal is undoubtedly Reese's Puffs. Dank stuff.
Q: If you were a drink, what drink would you be?
A: If I were a drink, I'd be this crazy drink I had a lot while studying abroad in Ghana called atemuda. It's really ginger-y…and I can't disclose any more information about it.
Everyone listen to my show Mondays at 2 pm! No better way to start your week.
