As the long winter ends and finals begin to loom on the horizon, that unique mix of cabin fever and test anxiety begin to creep in. Wouldn't it be nice to have an event where you can enjoy the spring weather and blow off some steam?
Well here at UW-Madison, there is an event designed perfectly for you. Revelry Arts and Music Festival is your chance to see local musicians, innovative art, and even renowned touring acts all in the same day (Saturday, May 2nd).
Last year saw national acts like Dillon Francis, Waka Flocka Flame, and Sky Ferreira share the stage with local acts like Crashprez, Lord of the Fly, and *hitmayng.
This year's acts are headlined by Chance the Rapper and the Social Experiment and even includes WSUM's own Robb Otics and Buck Russell (of THRILL and EMP Sessions).
More importantly than all of that are WSUM's top 10 things about Revelry 2015:
- The Silent Disco
Yes, that's right a silent disco. You'll see people doing the boogie and getting down to the funk with nothing but headphones on. You may think to yourself… “What are all those people doing dancing awkwardly with no music?” Go ahead and try for yourself, the silent disco will not disappoint, our resident exec member Chloe Devries can guarantee it (she's the one not rocking the turnt up turnip).
- Mick Jenkins
Chicago Native Jayson Jenkins known on stage as Mick Jenkins is a favorite of many students from the Chicago area and received much applause when the headlining announcement came out. Known for eccentric beats and intricate lyricism, Mick has garnered critical acclaim and notoriety from Timbaland and many others. Needless to say, WSUM is nothing short of exhilarated for his performance.
- WSUM Love: Robb Otics
Our own resident DJ and Assistant Tech Director Rob Chantigan known by his DJ alias ROBB OTICS will be throwing down a set and I can personally guarantee that without a doubt it will rock your socks off and give you a newfound inspiration for dance.
- May Flowers
What better way to begin the wondrous month of May with good food, great music and even better people.
- One Last Hurrah Before Finals
As the dreaded week of finals approaches, Revelry offers a last vestige of celebration of the arts before students here at UW-Madison lock themselves into the library and descend into carelessness of image and neglect for bodily needs in order to cram for those exams. If anyone is a wizard at Linear Algebra & Differential Equations, please come help me (Ryan, not Matt… Matt lives in linear algebra) during finals week.
- Local Love
LordPrez: (Crash Prez & Lord of the Fly), Dolores, and Robb Otics all local hometown favorites will be throwing down. Madison and the University will be well represented, and rightfully so.
- The Outdoor Artwork Gallery
Impressionist, Street Art and everything in between. Submissions are accepted until Wednesday, April 29th. Email [email protected] with a high resolution photo or scan of your original artwork.
- Another Opportunity to Jump Around

It's been a little while since we badgers have had the opportunity to get those legs going and jump around, and this offers an enticing opportunity to get rowdy.
- 22 Artists. 10 Hours. 3 Stages.
Boasting a fearsome and awe-inspiring lineup accompanied with a completely redesigned layout, Revelry has most assuredly stepped its game up.
- Chance The Rapper & The Social Experiment
It goes without saying that we are extremely amped to see the performance that the dynamic duo of the young, prolific lyricist Chance the Rapper combined with the musicianship of The Social Experiment. The hype around this headliner is difficult to harness in a succinct post but fear not as we have a profile of Chance coming soon.
