ZEDD, a.k.a. Anton Zaslavski, was born in Russia and raised in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Starting piano at age four, his music journey started early. It wasn't until 2007 that he started exploring the electronic world later releasing singles, and remixes of popular songs by artists like Skrillex, The Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga. Since then he's released two full-length albums, Clarity (2012) and True Colors (2015).
Before the release of True Colors I had only heard of ZEDD on and off the Top 40 list with songs like Clarity and Stay The Night. It wasn't until hearing his song Beautiful Now off of True Colors, that I became hooked. The message and up-beat feel of the song is what pulls you in, gets your heart racing, and sends your soul flying. Along with the rest of the album, as you listen to it from start to finish, it flows seamlessly from song to song, each one containing its own message and beauty. ZEDD's strong piano background also shines brightly in many songs like True Colors, Papercut, and Beautiful Now. There's something about the piano that adds emotion to each song that the lyrics cannot convey. I think that's what makes this album special and more memorable than his previous.
ZEDD has come a long way since 2007, and I cannot wait for this Friday as he sends our minds on vacation away from the stresses of life and creates an experience that will remain with us afterwards. Not to mention I am absolutely ecstatic that his special guests include Dillion Francis and Alex Metric! Dillion Francis has been to Madison numerous times, and each time I was unable to attend his show, so I am stoked that I've finally gotten the opportunity to see him and ZEDD in one night! So excited!
