On Thursday June 23, Dopapod and PHO came to the Majestic. Dopapod originated in Boston and PHO originated and resides in Minneapolis. PHO started the night and started the crowd. PHO classifies themselves as Twin Cities-based progressive funk. PHO consists of a drummer, keyboardist, trumpeter, bassist, saxophonist and two guitarist. During their set, one of the guitarist's strap broke. The guitarist sat down to keep the guitar up to play and kept the funk coming. Despite his broken guitar strap, he continued to perform a solo.
By the time Dopapod graced the stage, the crowd was warmed up and ready. Dopapod classifies themselves as Progressive Rock and Dance music. Dopapod's sound and the crowd reminded me of a jam band influenced by Rock. Dopapod consists of a drummer, keyboardist, bassist and guitarist. The songs seamlessly transitioned throughout the set as the crowds energy continued throughout the night. Their sound and light coordinator put on a fantastic light show for the energized crowd. Overall, the show was full of excitement that kept the crowd happy and dancing throughout the night.
