If there's one constant in Rock, it's that there will always be garage rock bands. Since the 1960s, there have been groups that channel a ferocious energy that often remains light and not too serious. Since the last decade, garage rock groups had a new found a burst of interest when artists like Wavves, Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall brought the genre a much needed revtalization. Another band that found success from this wave is Jacuzzi Boys. Their song “Glazin'”, when released in 2011, showcased the world their surgary, poppy punk sensibilities. Hailing from Miami, they are coming to the Frequency on October 17th in support of their new album Ping Pong. Their sound could easily be compared to others in the same genre but their Miami roots give their sound a sun glazed personality. The show should also be a display of local garage power as well. Opening for them are two beloved Milwaukee groups, the Rashita Joneses and Platinum Boys. Platinum Boys in particular are a band that I personally have been enjoying recently. Their songs have a classic rock bent to it that I have heard people compare to Thin Lizzy. Overall, the show this Monday will surely be a great time for those interested in some old fashioned rock ‘n roll and cause people to talk about how the boys are back in town.
