When I heard that White Lies announced a show at the Majestic, I was transported back to the winter of 2010 when I discovered To Lose My Life, White Lies' first album, which came out the previous year. I was instantly impressed by what a big sound a trio could make, and the 80s throw-back sound was a page out of The Killers' book. What set To Lose My Life apart from other popular post-punk acts was that their polished sound also included interesting, fleshed-out narratives. Songs like “Unfinished Business,” “E.S.T.” and “The Price of Love” give off a noir-esque vibe, dark and exciting. I look forward to reliving some of the facetious seriousness that came with being a teenage music fan. And in many ways, Whites Lies music is similar to the angst of youth: both are defined by darkness and style.
