This Thursday, Spoon comes to The Orpheum Madison to bring us their iconic indie rock and a damn good time. On tour to promote their latest album Hot Thoughts, Spoon has carved out a niche sound, consisting of reliably great songwriting, soulful and rocking to keep you moving. Blending genres of post-punk, indie pop, indie rock and experimental rock, Spoon has most certainly made a name for itself, releasing highly popular albums such as Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga in 2007 and They Want My Soul in 2014.
Formed in 1993 in Austin, Texas, lead singer and guitarist Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno decided to name the band ‘Spoon', honoring the 1970's German avant-garde band Can and their hit single “Spoon”. The single “Spoon” sounds as it would seem: psychedelic and as if it should belong in a Vietnam War movie. Spoon is guaranteed to promise and rollicking performance in front of a receptive crowd at the Orpheum. If you're looking for a good time, come join me at The Orpheum this Thursday to rock your socks off.
