Continuing the midwestern portion of his national tour of The Story of Us, this Saturday, September 30th, Quinn XCII will be taking the stage at the Majestic Theater in Madison. Quinn XCII grew up in Detroit, Michigan and the R&B/Soul history that comes with the area. He later attended Michigan State University and began to record with producer and childhood friend, ayokay. His debut EP album, Change of Scenery, was made with ayokay and released in 2015. I was first introduced to the artist with his song Another Day in Paradise from this album, which alternative pop sounds can make any day feel good. His fame has only grown since as he has produced hit singles, Stung and Kings of Summer, which quickly moved to #1 on Spotify's Global Viral Chart, and albums Bloom and The Story of Us. As explain in an interview by Verge Campus, his name has a two part origin. Quinn, coming from an college-taught acronym “Quite Unless Instincts are Never Neglected” and “XCII” is the year he was born. Its meaning is to essentially pursue what you love as much as you can, and that is what Quinn XCII continues to do as he molds genres of indie pop, hip hop, and electronic into a laid-back dance blend. Be sure to catch him at the Majestic this Saturday and be ready to vibe and dance to this still-rising sensation.
