Unknown Mortal Orchestra (UMO) released their fourth studio album Sex and Food earlier this year to somewhat mixed reception. Some have hailed it as one of the best albums of the year, while others have described it as unpolished and half-baked.
Following the success of their 2015 record Multi Love, it’s easy to see why some find the slower, hazier sounds on Sex and Food less exciting. But it is filled with complex musical ideas and intriguing lyrics that make their newest release worth digging in to.
The band has often been praised for their unique, expansive live performances, and there is good reason to think that this tour supporting Sex and Food will be a sonic treat. Unknown Mortal Orchestra performs Thursday night at Majestic Theatre, with doors at 7:30 and the show at 8:30.
