Unknown Mortal Orchestra opened their sold-out show at Majestic Theatre with an extended, moving guitar jam built around “From the Sun” from their album II. Frontman Ruban Nielson used a wireless connection to his amp, allowing him to hop down from the stage and solo while making his way from the stage all the way upstairs and back again.

The rest of the show lived up to this stellar opener. UMO played a healthy mix of oldies, crowd favorites, and songs from their newest album Sex and Food. Their vibey, funked out pop songs complemented their slower, spacier songs throughout the well-balanced setlist. Nielson's energy was contagious and had a large part of the crowd dancing for much of the show.

All in all, it was a fantastic show. I would recommend seeing them if you get the chance. UMO continue this tour overseas in Europe.
