Our annual music festival, the Snake On The Lake, is only two days away! In anticipation show we've got a preview for the second to last artist of the fest: Wei Zhongle! Born out of “a love of traditional Chinese court music and general esotericism” Wei Zhongle makes eccentric pop music which twists and turns through deep funks and woodwind grooves.
The Chicago band has gone through five lineups since their inception 2011, always fronted by vocalist and guitarist Rob Jacobs. The current edition has the most maturity to their sound thus far, evident on their most recent full length, The Operators. The album released in February on Self-Sabotage records and features some of their most catchy and twisting music yet.
You can check out a performance recorded by Thrdcoast here.
Wei Zhongle will be on after the Florists and before Melkbelly this Friday, September 7th at the Memorial Union Terrace! Show starts at 8pm!
