Ghost is a Grammy-winning rock band that was formed in Linköping, Sweden in 2006. Their music is reminiscent of 1970's psychedelic rock and heavy metal, having a unique sound that has been compared to Black Sabbath and Blue Öyster Cult. They will be stopping by the The Sylvee here in Madison on November 3, 2018, as one stop on their tour named A Pale Tour Named Death promoting their album Prequelle, which was released on June 1, 2018. They are known for their performances, where each member dons a costume and mask, with leader and singer Tobias Forge becoming the character Papa Emeritus with his band being all “Nameless Ghouls.” The Papa Emeritus character is constantly evolving from album to album, with Forge recently transitioning to an entirely new incarnation called Cardinal Copia. Ghost's early work is similar to heavier doom metal, as seen on Opus Eponymous and Infestissumam, but the band has recently moved towards a more melodic psychedelic and progressive rock sound on their recent two records. The tour name A Pale Tour Named Death reflects the themes of many of Ghost's songs and albums, which are often death, Satan, and history. This makes them the perfect concert for the Halloween season, fitting the spooky theme so very well. Although they seem dark and pessimistic, what is more important to the band for their concerts is having a giant party and rocking out. They are renowned for their concert performances, so it will be a blast for all who attend. It starts at 8:00 p.m.
