King Tuff (Kyle Thomas) will be bringing his bodacious baseball hat collection to High Noon Saloon on January 30th with support: Stonefield and Madison punk quartet Fire Heads. King Tuff combines elements of psychedelic/garage rock, folk, and country that transports the listener to an endless desert highway.
Kyle Thomas is touring in support of his album “The Other”, released in April 2018 under Sub Pop records. The album is Thomas' fourth full-length release under the name King Tuff, and the title in his words is “about hitting rock bottom”. This is his first release since 2014, and it almost wasn't made. King Tuff is very much a touring band, and after years on the road, Thomas was exhausted from the fast-paced lifestyle. He had created a persona that he describes as “A crazy party monster”, when it was not in fact how he saw himself. This album represents the artistic journey of Thomas finding the voice of his true self. It begins with the atypical somber title track, but jumps right into the next track with his signature upbeat rock n' roll roots with a fresh twist.
Thomas has toured with a variety of bands, but really got his start in Ty Segall's backing band, The Muggers. After years of non-stop touring across the US, Europe, and Australia, every member of King Tuff's band are veterans of the road. Looking forward to seeing how the wild rocker's performance has evolved with his new authentic identity.
