Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, is suing two companies over a destructive natural gas explosion that took place in July.
The city filed suit against VC Tech and Bear Communications, companies associated with the VC Tech worker who planted a fiber-optic cable. The work ultimately triggered an explosion that killed firefighter Corey Barr, according to the Wisconsin State Journal.
The lawsuit specifies that VC Tech and Bear Communications failed to detect the dangerous gas line. The lawsuit also alleges that Bear Communications did not check the licensing of VC Tech, while Indianapolis-based USIC Locating Services failed to make note of underground service lines.
The wife of the deceased firefighter also filed a lawsuit against these corporations and We Energies in December.
