    Sun Oct 13 2019

Looking to hear some scary stories this October? Well then look no further, because The Moth StorySLAM is coming back to Madison this Monday, October 14th, at the High Noon Saloon. And the theme for the night? “Spooky”.

The Moth is a non-profit group, based in New York City that is dedicated to the art of personal storytelling. This organization encourages people from all different backgrounds to share their stories in front of a live audience, and in this way, create connections with those in their community and beyond. The Moth made its debut in 2009 with a series on National Public Radio and has since gained momentum. Today over 500 radio stations across the United States broadcast this series. A Moth podcast is also available for streaming on many platforms, such as Spotify and iTunes.

Moth StorySLAM is an open mic storytelling competition, and Madison is excited to be 1 of 25 cities in the United States that hosts StorySLAM events. The only requirements for storytelling are that stories must be told without a script, and that the story told is true and personal. This Monday, local audience members may enter to be 1 of 10 participants that tells a 5-minute story that follows the spooky theme.

All audience members are eligible to enter for the chance to perform. Storytellers are encouraged to prepare stories about moments that made their skin crawl, moments that made them jump out of their seats, or even light-hearted memories of fun Halloween nights. Come prepared with a 5-minute story, or simply come to sit back, listen, and enjoy the show.

Doors open at 6:30 pm, stories begin at 7:30.
