YBN Cordae, formally known as Cordae Amari Dunston, is a hip-hop artist from Raleigh, North Carolina. Cordae is currently here for his tour after the release of his critically acclaimed “The Lost Boy” album. The Lost Boy was released on July 26th, 2019 and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album at the 62nd Grammy Awards. Cordae is set to perform at the Majestic Theatre on February 3rd. He is a blast on stage and has a great ability to get everyone in the crowd jumping around. The opening act is another rapper from the San Francisco Bay Area, known as 24kGoldn. He is best known for his song “Valentino”, a common house-party anthem. I can not wait to see what these two outstanding artists have in store for us.

I recently saw YBN Cordae this past summer in Chicago, just one week after he released his album, at Lollapalooza. He was one of the very first acts of the very first day of the festival, and as soon as he stepped on stage, he immediately drew in a crowd. As his set went on, more and more people drew into the crowd. It was such a great experience and I can assure everyone that he will not disappoint of you are able to get tickets to his show at the Majestic on February 4th.

YBN Cordae began writing raps at the early age of fifteen and took great inspiration from iconic artists such as Rakim, Nas, Big L and Talib Kweli. He decided to pursue his rap career while also graduating high school and moving on to Towson University. In 2018, he decided to move to Los Angeles, California to focus on his music career. From there he formed the YBN collective. He gained lots of traction online in 2018 with his YBN crew, and released his first single, “Introduction to the world” in May.

YBN Cordae's rapping style is a fantastic mix of the old school and new school, and each song is fantastically creative. If you get the chance to see him live this Tuesday, I highly recommend it because he is such a great up and coming artist who is sure to put on a great show.
