Bella Sobah Tribute Live at 7 pm on July 16

On June 18, 2020, the WSUM family lost one of its most devoted and beloved members. Bella Sobah was a talented DJ, a brilliant student, a deeply kind person, and an inspiration for all of us to fight for a better world. Bella's show, “Shut Up And Listen,” ran for over two years, bringing a diverse selection of music onto the WSUM airwaves, as well as her powerful presence and infectious laugh. We believe that any WSUM listener who heard Bella's show felt her positivity and power radiating out over the airwaves.

Bella was not only a WSUM DJ and UW-Madison student, but an activist, advocating for the LGBTQ+ community, people with disabilities, immigrants, and people of color. She was well known in UW-Madison's Genetics department, where she obtained her undergraduate degree, and the Black Law Students' Association, where she was involved as a law student. We feel fortunate that Bella spent so much time at WSUM; all who knew her were better for it, and she will be forever missed. 

WSUM will air a tribute to Bella this Thursday, July 16 at 7 PM.
