Almost one million Wisconsinites have requested absentee ballots ahead of Tuesday's statewide partisan primary.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission reported Tuesday that it received well over 900,000 absentee ballot requests for the Aug. 11 election, and that over half-a-million of those ballots have already been returned. Dane County had the second-most absentee ballot requests of any county in the state with over 139,000 requests, trailing only Milwaukee County's 163,000 requests.

This fervor for absentee voting comes as Wisconsin continues to struggle with containing COVID-19, motivating many voters to cast their ballot early to avoid crowds on election day.

Voters who have received an absentee ballot but have not yet returned it must do so before the polls close tomorrow at 8:00 P.M. While Dane County has closed all of its early absentee ballot drop-off sites except for the City Clerk's Office, voters can still drop off a filled absentee ballot at their polling place on election day.

For those looking to vote in person in Wisconsin's Aug. 11 partisan primary election, polls open tomorrow at 7:00 A.M. and close at 8:00 P.M.

While the Wisconsin Election Commission strongly requests voters to wear masks to protect themselves and others against COVID-19, they are not required.

Wisconsinites looking to register to vote, find their polling place, preview their ballot and more can do so at myvote.wi.gov.
