State Street Brats announced on Sunday that it would close until further notice in an Instagram post.

“To prioritize the safety of our customers, employees, and community, we will be closed until further notice,” the bar posted. “We hope to see you soon Madison.”

The community is saddened by this closure, and does not seem to understand why State Street Brats would close. Community members and students commented with crying emojis and asked “why?” under the post. 

This Saturday, the day before State Street Brats announced its temporary closure, Dane County set a new record of confirmed COVID-19 cases in a single day. Most of those cases were UW-Madison students and staff, according to Channel 3000.
