Want to take your gift of gab and passion for playlists to the airwaves or RSS feed? Find out what it takes to make a great conversation radio- or podcast-ready. Magic 105.3's Jenny Lee, podcast producer Sarah Kantor (both WSUM alumni!) and KEXP's DJ Abbie will chat about how to create engaging content for any format.
Originally from a suburb of Chicago, Jenny Lee is a 2010 UW-Madison graduate, who now co-hosts the Jenny & Tony Morning Show on Magic 105.3 in San Antonio, TX. Her radio resume includes weekends on Q 106.3 in Madison, as well as overnight host and content creator at Z-104 Madison. Prior to that, she spent a year working at a station in Door County and served as the Station Manager at WSUM. Jenny volunteers her time at the Humane Society every week and mentors foster youth through the San Antonio court system. In her spare time, Jenny enjoys watching Wisconsin sports and being a cat lady!
Sarah Kantor was a WSUM DJ from 2003 to 2006, as well as a Traffic Director and the Promotions Director. She also served as Director of the WUD Music Committee and was a writer and editor for Emmie Magazine. After graduating, she interned at the AV Club, volunteered at WLUW community radio in Chicago, and co-produced the podcast A Talking Cast!?! from 2014 to 2015. Sarah has several other pre-successful podcasts to her name. She is now a Studio Librarian at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, where she teaches people how to make podcasts and other digital media. Sarah moved to Tennessee so she could have a Dolly Parton license plate. She loves cats, pickles, and mid-2000s indie pop.
Abbie Gobeli is radio DJ at KEXP and music manager for the band Actors. She graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Abbie joined the college radio station, where she hosted the morning show, local show, and also served as Music Director. She also helped out at venues including First Avenue, booked shows, and has written for various music publications. Abbie briefly studied at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, where she interviewed new Scottish bands for Radio K and wrote for The Pop Cop. She began hustling marketing and press for many beloved artists at Saddle Creek Records. Then one day, Abbie visited Seattle and was offered a job at Sonic Boom Records. She packed up her car and moved a month later and immediately started volunteering at KEXP. In 2016, Abbie began her dream job hosting a show on KEXP. Abbie also runs social media for Sub Pop Records in Seattle.
