Ritt Momney performed at The Majestic on Saturday, November 11th and his stage presence evoked an incredible amount of energy and feedback from the crowd. His musicianship stood out throughout his set as he performed various songs from his discography that highlighted his talents on the keyboard, synthesizer, and guitar. The songs performed gave the audience a taste of his diverse anthology, ranging from energetic pieces to more meaningful and soft-spoken songs, stemming from the indie-rock and indie-pop genres. The setlist emitted a home-recorded energy that made it feel as though you were listening to a local garage band, which created a very comforting atmosphere as an audience member.
To be completely honest, before the show, I could only list a handful of Ritt Momney songs that I knew off the top of my head, one of which being his cover of “Put Your Records On” by Corinne Bailey Rae. After releasing his cover in the spring of 2020, it became an instant success and is currently one of his most listened-to songs across streaming platforms. During the performance, the crowd continuously shouted for the band to perform their rendition of the song but they were adamantly against it, which was almost humorous. But I digress, going into the concert not knowing much of Ritt Momney's discography, I was thoroughly impressed by how much I genuinely enjoyed each track that was performed. Listening to the performance made me feel nostalgic in a way. His music reminded me of being with close friends and sharing heartfelt memories, which made me feel all the more connected throughout the show.
His connection to the crowd stood out the most to me during the performance. During the breaks between the sets, his personality shined through as he emitted a sense of comfort and made it feel as though you were listening to a friend perform. Ritt Momney is also a very humble performer and made sure to continuously express his gratitude to his band. For one of the songs on the setlist, “Young Adult”, he brought out his girlfriend on stage to sing with the band, which only added to the very heartening energy of the performance.
Ritt Momney's tour is set to end on November 16th, 2023, in his hometown of Salt Lake City. The concert was an incredible experience that I won't soon forget as it is safe to say that I am now very much a fan. I will be sure to catch Ritt Momney on any future Midwest tour dates.
